Week 9 Newsletter
Lollies at School
As we come to the end of the year we are asking that parents do not send children to school with lollies etc to give to friends. This is causing some issues. We have no problem with just Christmas cards that are given out.
Year 6 Signed Shirts
In previous years, our Year 6 students have been allowed to have one of their school shirts signed by other students. This will be the same this year. This will happen on Tuesday 12 December. This is only for Year 6 students. Parents need to be aware that this is happening. If you do not want your Year 6 child to have a signed shirt, please let your class teacher know.
Year 5-6 Swimming This Week
Our Year 5 and 6's will have their second week of swimming this week at the EA Networks pool. Children will be bussed to the swimming and there is no charge for the lessons or bus. Please make sure your child has togs/towel/goggles each day for the swim.
End of Year Reports
Our end of year reports will be sent home at the end of this week. Year 6's will receive theirs on Thursday 7 December as they are not at school on Friday due to their Big Day Out.
The rest of the school will receive theirs on Friday 8 December. The report contains information about what your child can do in Reading, Writing and Mathematics as well as their attendance, and general comments.
Year 6 Big Day Out
Our Year 6's will finish the year with a fun day of activities on Friday 8 December. Details about this have been shared by the Year 5/6 teachers.
Farewell Mrs Osborne
The staff and BOT and children would like to acknowledge the retirement of Mrs Christine Osborne. Christine has been part of Tinwald School for 28 years. As a support staff person and teacher aide, Christine has contributed tirelessly to the life of the school. Christine has worked with all levels of classes and built up our English programme for new learners of English.
On Friday 24 November, Christine was recognised at the NZEI dinner for graduants and retirees. This week the support staff at Tinwald will acknowledge her and the following week Christine will be farewelled by the children.
Tinwald School would like to thank Christine for all of her work over the years and wish her and Mark the very best in their retirement.
Congratulations to our Fully Registered Teachers
Tinwald School would like to congratulate Miss Fraser, Miss Dew, Miss Pringle and Miss Gray for completing two years of their mentoring programme and being signed off as Fully Registered Teachers. The school recognises the work of both the newly registered teachers and their mentor teachers who worked so hard over the last two years.
On Friday 24 November the four teachers were recognised at the NZEI Graduants and Retirees dinner, along with Mrs Osborne. We look forward to working with these awesome teachers in the future.
Library and School Books Returned
A reminder to all families to return any school library books and school reading books. We need these back as soon as possible. All books should be taken to the library or class teacher.
We would also like parents to return any school rep shirts or sports tops. Often these have been taken home to be washed but are not returned.
Second Hand Uniform
We are more than happy to receive any excess uniform from families. It is washed by our PTA and put up for sale or donated where needed. Uniform can be dropped off at the office.
Final Celebration Assembly
Parents and families are welcome to join us in the school hall at 2pm on Thursday 7 December for our final celebration assembly. Our Year 6's will be sharing memories from their days at Tinwald School.
