Key Decisions for 2026
To The Community of Tinwald School
Dear Parents, and Caregivers.
I would like to announce two important decisions that will continue the work we do as a school to improve the outcomes for all children.
Firstly, from next year our classes will be aligned with the first two phases of the revised English and Maths curricula. The learning in Phase 1 covers the first three years of schooling. The learning in Phase 2 covers the next three years of learning.
This means we will have two syndicates in the school. The Phase 1 syndicate will be from New Entrant to end of Year 3. The Phase 2 syndicate will be from Year 4 to Year 6.
The second key decision is the appointment of two Deputy Principals to the leadership team. Beginning in 2026 Miss Monique Reay will be the Phase 1 syndicate leader and Deputy Principal. Miss Zenthia Gray will be the Phase 2 syndicate and Deputy Principal.
Both Miss Reay and Miss Gray have already held responsibility roles within their syndicates and across the school. Already they have been working together this year to bring an evidence based pedagogical approach to teaching. This work will continue in the following years.
They have a passion for improving the outcomes for both our children and our staff and want the best for Tinwald School. They bring energy, enthusiasm, initiative and experience in various forms to the tasks that will be in front of them.
Together the three of us will focus on improving learning outcomes for all students.
On behalf of the appointments committee, I would like to congratulate Miss Gray and Miss Reay for being appointed to these roles. I would like to thank the appointments committee for the thorough process that lead to these decisions and the integrity that they brought to the table. Guided by our appointments policy, the committee brought a range of perspectives and experience to the dialogue and discussions we had.
These key decisions are a positive step forward for Tinwald School and on behalf of the staff I would like to thank you for your continuing support. If you have any questions about these decisions please contact me so I can answer them.
Yours sincerely
Peter Livingstone
Principal

Sunhats
A reminder that all children are required to be wearing a school sunhat this term. Our PTA gifts a hat to all New Entrants. We allow children a one week amnesty at the start of the term to organise their hat, from then on children without hats will be asked to stay in shaded areas.

Please note that these results use the language of "Well Below, Below, At and Above" whereas our mid year reports used the Ministry of Education descriptors.
