Week 5, Term 2 2025
Term 1 Attendance
School attendance is a Government and school priority. The target is to have 80% of our children attend more than 90% of the time. As a school we are not yet meeting that target. At the end of Term 1:
- 18 children or 6.95% of 265 children missed more than 30% of school for the term.
- 7 children or 2.7% of 265 children missed between 20-30% of school for the term.
- 51 children or 19.31% of 265 children missed between 10-20% of school for the term.
- 188 children or 71.04% of 265 children missed between 0-10% of school for the term.
- An average of 7 children or 2.74% of 265 children were late every day to school.
We understand children being unwell for school, but not every absence we record is for sickness. Some of the reasons we have recorded for a child being away are outside of what is justifiable such as being at home because a grandparent is visiting or going to the airport to farewell a relative.
It is every parents responsibility to make sure their child is ready for school and attends every day. If you are having an issue with your child attending school, please contact your classroom teacher and discuss it with them in the first instance.
If your child is going to be absent, please contact the office on 308 4555 or email admin@tinwald.school.nz and state the reason why your is going to be away. If your child is absent for 3 or more days due to medical reasons we may ask for a medical certificate.
