Lollies/Confectionary and Birthdays
At Tinwald School we acknowledge birthdays at our Monday morning assemblies for our students and staff. Whilst it may seem to be a nice gesture to offer food/cake/ confectionary to the class on your child’s birthday, this can become a source of implied pressure on other families to follow suit and so we do not support this practice at our school.
Please keep birthday celebrations and invitations to a time outside of school. We do not allow lollies/confectionary being brought to school for any reason as a matter of equity. This also includes other special occasions such as Easter and Christmas. We appreciate your cooperation on this matter.
Bright Colours Mufti Day
Rare Disorders
It’s not rare to have a rare disorder. In Aotearoa, more than 300,000 people live with one of over 7,000 rare disorders - and more than half of these people affected are children. That’s the equivalent of 1-2 students in every classroom.
Rare Disease Day - a global day of solidarity for people living with a rare disorder, is observed every year on the last day of February. What makes this day extra special this year is that 2024 is a leap year, which means it will be observed on the very rarest of days – 29th February.
So, at Tinwald School we are having a Birght Colours Mufti Day. Get behind this great cause, dress up in bright colours and bring along a GOLD COIN donation.
